Ever since I was two, I knew I was born to dance. I loved the stage, the lights, the costumes and mostly, performing for everyone. My passion deepened around 10 years old. I trained about 3-4 days a week and even auditioned for the Boston Ballet Summer Intensive. At the studio, I was known as the girl who was super flexible, doing all the weird and cool tricks in my dances.

Sitting in my copy editing class, the professor questioned our choice to pursue journalism: “It’s a dying field. Layoffs every year. No pay. No work.” It was relentless, and I could sense the class becoming discouraged. ​ We had finally found something we were passionate about, and then a professor told us we had chosen the wrong career to focus our life on. It was a disheartening moment, as if our newfound enthusiasm for journalism had been abruptly questioned and undermine

The newly established student-run newspaper at High Point University, The View Point, has experienced tremendous growth and attention since November of 2023. The newspaper embodies a mission to serve the High Point University community by giving a voice to the voiceless and allowing students a safe space to share their writing and opinions.
