High Point women’s basketball continues its dominance in the Big South, capturing its second straight conference championship to secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament. With the victory, the Panthers earned their third appearance in the “Big Dance” and are hoping to carry that momentum with them into the postseason.

When heading to the conference tournament High Point had one goal in mind. That goal was to walk out as conference champions and be awarded an automatic bid to the “Big Dance.” For the Panthers this dream became a reality as the team made the tournament for the second consecutive season, doing so in head coach Flynn Clayman’s first year after the departure of Alan Huss. The Panthers women's basketball team has been known for being successful, with the program’s last losing season coming in the 2015-16 campaign when the team went 14-17. That standard did not change after the hiring of now head coach Chelsea Banbury in 2019. Banbury has led the team to six consecutive winning seasons, highlighted by winning the Big South Conference championship and appearing in the NCAA Tournament last season.

Coming off a Big South Conference championship and their first NCAA appearance in school history, High Point has reloaded through the transfer portal which helped them move to No. 4 in the preseason Mid-Major Top 25 poll.

It will be the first tournament appearance for the HPU men’s and the second for the HPU women’s in program history.
